Robert and DeLores  Vasey

I was born December 21, 1939 in Union.  Oldest of 5 children.  As a child growing up, we moved often, so I went to 13 different schools, (never Union) in 12 years.  Missed kindergarten.  Graduated from Eldora in 1957.  We were married January 26, 1958.  Snow was higher than some of the cars at the time.  We lived in Mason City a short while, returning to Eldora.  Marvin joined us January 2, 1959.  He was the first New Year baby at the Eldora Hospital.  August 1960 we welcomed Carl, Jim and Jean Ann Teske to our home.   In September, 1960 on the 25th, Katherine was born.  In December 1962 we moved to Union in the old house that was on the lot where the new Baptist parsonage now stands.  Bob built the garage that still stands there.  Upon moving to Union, Lloyd McDonald invited us to attend the Community Church.  The kids were baptized here and attended Sunday School.   July 25, 1964, another big event, Karen was born.  We continued to live in Union until November 1969 when we purchased the acreage we live on now.  All the kids graduated from Union High School.  Bob is retired from Lennon Ind. after 39 and one half years.  He keeps busy keeping the yard in shape.  Bob also does some woodworking projects.  I still have my drapery business and sewing that I do for other people.  I do a lot of quilting and participate in the Willing Workers and help with the bazaar.
