Church Remodeling Project II |

In May of 2005, the Church Board decided to appoint an Exploratory Committee. The Board has many other issues and felt that a separate committee would be better able to address the needs of our church.. Members of this committee are Bill Brown, Harris Haywood, Jo Bates, Annamaria Hauser, Pam Norman, Terri Goodman, Rick Schill and Deanna Vaux. The charge from the Church Board was to explore the church facilities from the new construction north to see what is needed. Our Organizational meeting was June 9, 2005. Our first order business was to do a "walk-thru" and a "needs assessment". It was decided we needed to explore all ideas, then talk money. A structural engineer was brought in to assess the stone and structure. The committee is working with an architect. The committee is now considering several problems, (1) address the problem with the tower, (2) remodel the balcony by taking out doors and windows, changing the floor and seating, (3) extending the stage area using the storage room behind the pulpit, (4) evaluate the furnaces that serve the sanctuary, (5) upgrade the electrical and sound systems in the sanctuary, (6) repair the sofet and tuck-pointing on the outside of the building, (7) make the old social room more useable for Sunday School classes. There will be other minor projects such as new carpet and repainting. Wouldn't it be great to be able to celebrate the church's100th anniversary in newly remodeled sanctuary in 2008. To Top of Page |
